The Song Was Wrong
Remember that song that said “Time goes by so slowly, but time can do so much”? Well, the Righteous Brothers were wrong! Time does not go by slowly at all. Especially when you get older. I can not believe it has been a month since I have even posted.
If I had been relaxing on the beach somewhere and enjoying the time, I wouldn’t be bothered. But here I’ve lost a month of my life and have no idea where it went. Between running around with daily activities and commuting to a part-time job in downtown Toronto, there’s little time left to do anything but sleep. I try to read or write on the subway, but it’s hard to concentrate with someone’s leaking headphone music on one side of me and a stranger’s arm and leg rubbing against the other side.
I find it ironic that the people in Toronto will not smile or look you in the eye and yet they are crammed in closer to you than your family gets sometimes. It’s also best to have your eyes closed or averted to keep from staring at another persons midsection, should you be lucky enough to get a seat in the sardine can. Those ads that proclaim public transit is the better way must be written by people who never travel in rush hour!
