Motivation To Succeed

Posted in learning at 10:59 pm by Mrs C.

I love to read about successful people and try to learn how they succeeded. Knowing other people were able to overcome obstacles motivates me to do the same. Here are some tips for success that I recently came across:

1. No excuses. Many famous actors, music artists, inventors, etc., had special challenges ranging from learning disabilities to physical disabilities. Take Beethoven for example. He was born deaf yet he went on to be one of the world’s greatest composers or Joni Erickson who was paralyzed from the neck down yet she learned to paint with her mouth. Today, her paintings are famous around the world and worth millions. If you are faced with a special challenge of your own, while you may have to adjust things from time to time, do not use excuses. If you want something enough, there is a way!

2. As you work hard to reach success, you need to be able to see your accomplishments. Start a journal and track everything you have done. When you feel discouraged or frustrated, think about what you have achieved

The idea of a journal does help you realize how many successes you have had and motivates you to get up and try again. Sometimes when I look back over goals I have written months before and realize they were completed, I can hardly believe I was able to accomplish so much.

Natural Depression Help

Posted in family, health at 3:39 pm by Mrs C.

This time of year, many people suffer from depression. Too long indoors, not enough sun, too cold, you name it.

Rather than take medications that will eventually do more harm than good, there are some natural treatments you can do.

One of them is exercise. I find even if I clean a cupboard or move some furniture around it lifts my mood.

Another that I just read about is to experience new things. Not only pleasurable experiences, but new experiences and new stimuli trigger our brains to release good feelings.

So get out and learn something new today.

Ripcord Through The Jungle

Posted in family at 3:16 pm by Mrs C.

One day in Mexico, my family decided to go for a day trip to the Mayan Jungle. Since we knew it would be a strenuous day with lots of walking, and since I am not really a jungle loving person, I stayed back at the resort with my mother. My sisters traveling by ripcord across the jungle. Glad I was not there, since heights and I don’t like each other.

So This is Mexico?

Posted in family at 8:35 pm by Mrs C.

catalina resort

So how was Mexico? This is one of the views of the resort we stayed at. Hot and beautiful, the only sad thing is seeing the poverty around us as we drove the hour from the CanCun airport to the resort. Other than that, the trip was more than we expected.

We swam, read, ate, swam, and ate some more. The only problem with the resort was my stomach wasn’t used to three all-you-can-eat buffets a day, with plenty of food choices. By the end of the week, my system was forcing me to slow down with the stuffing my face.

So did we do anything else? How about jungle tours, kayaking, snorkeling, watching sea lions and dolphins swimming with the people. More about those things later.

Why Mexico?

Posted in family at 8:25 pm by Mrs C.

My mother is over 80. This winter is long and cold, not fun for an older person. My sisters and I would love to go with her on a trip. Then my oldest daughter and two nieces decide to go too. But where?

Our first thought is a cruise. We want something that is all-inclusive, no cooking or cleaning or extra money needed. But mom has been having problems with libido, which means she has extreme dizzy spells sometimes, so a boat might not be a great choice.

We want somewhere warm and snowless and all-inclusive. Before you know it, we’ve booked a week at a resort in Mexico, on the Mayan Riviera. So was the trip worth the time, effort and money?

Stay tuned for next time.

Where Has Mrs C Been?

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:14 pm by Mrs C.

If you’ve been following this blog, you may have noticed that I haven’t written for almost three months. Since no one has called the police, or emailed to see if I was still alive, I take it that I am my only fan.

Oh well. I will continue to post anyway, because I can’t remember what happened to me from one day to the next, so this acts as a journal for me.

Anyway, where have I been? Let’s see, Nashville at Christmas, home and on the computer until February and then off to Mexico for a week. Mexico, you say, why would Mrs C go to Mexico. You’ll have to come back and read again to find the answer to that!

And yes, I know that my blog header has a picture of Amsterdam and I don’t care. It looks warm and inviting.

Snow Joke

Posted in life in Canada at 8:06 pm by Mrs C.

If all of the snow we’re getting today is supposed to be a joke, we are not laughing. It just keeps falling and falling. My husband is from northern Ontario and even he agrees this is a lot of snow. He tried to drive to the library and couldn’t get up the little hill. Even the buses here are getting stuck.

No wonder Canadians are so addicted to the weather report.
