Killing Time

Filed under: life in Canada, family — Grandma C. @ 8:54 pm

There used to be a day when there were more things to do than hours to do them. Then somehow the kids grew up and left home. Now, here we are at not even 9 pm and I sit on the couch bored and unmotivated, while my husband stares at the ceiling wondering what to do with himself.

We have not settled into retirement very well, even with hobbies and church activities to help fill our time. We miss having the kids around, although when they were, we were too busy to really enjoy them. Life is funny like that - one minute you are in the fast lane and the next, you are not even in the race anymore. And the sad thing is that you were so busy running that you missed all of the enjoyment on the way. Is it any wonder that grandparents spoil their grandkids so much - we get another chance at life.

Ah, you’ll get the hang of retirement soon and wonder how you ever had time to do all the things you did with kids! I’m looking forward to mine…3 more years of teaching Gr. 1,2,3!
