Goals For a New Year

I’m one of those people that like to write everything down, preferably on paper. I like to have goals I’m working toward and a daily task list to help me get there.

I thought I’d share with you some of my goals for 2012 and would love to hear yours as well. So this is my list:

More book publishing, whether that be ebooks, audio books on dvd, or print books. After working on the production of a physical book for a client, which you can see at the left, it made me want to do more of my own as well. I’ve started working on a collection of 30 great ideas for promoting yourself and your business on the Internet and am trying to work on it a little bit every day. I’ll let you know when I’ve finished.

More training sessions. I’m doing a social media session at the Cambridge Chamber tomorrow, and have a number of workshops coming up at the Johnson Community Centre here in town – topics include using a WordPress website and getting traffic to your website. I would like to eventually do a training session at the NAMS marketing event that I attend in Atlanta twice a year. That would be the ultimate venue.

More presentations. For some reason, I find it easier to talk in front of a large group than I do one on one or giving my elevator pitch at a small networking event. In fact, I told renowned speaker Kathleen Gage that some day I would share the stage with her.  The largest presentation I’ve every done was to 150 people for the Assante Wealth Group on the topic of social media. I’ve also done a couple for the Working Centre in Kitchener, the Chamber of Commerce, and various women’s’ groups. Although I feel ready to be sick before I speak, I seem to feed off the audience approval and am flying high by the time I’m finished. The scariest one for me was probably my first speaking engagement since it was on a Rogers TV station and I was pretty intimidated by the cameras. If you have a group looking for a speaker, please keep me in mind.

Webinars. Although I’ve being doing teleseminars for awhile now, my webinar attempts so far have been less than successful. I was glad only my mastermind group were there to see all the mistakes I made. I’ve tried a number of webinar programs and they all seem too complicated for a non-techie like me, but I’ve got a few more to test yet. Look for an announcement once I master the skill.

More teleseminars. I love interviewing people and finding out more about their expertise. You’ll see more of those from me this year.

I’m also taking more time for people. After some sudden deaths in my circle this past year I realize even more the importance of spending time and treasuring people while we have them in our lives. We can’t take it for granted that they will always be there.

Those are my goals for the year. What about you? What are you planning to do to make this the best year ever, both for yourself and for your business?

Until next time,
Carol

I don’t usually set goals for myself but maybe I need to so I don’t feel like I am just kind of floating along. I know you will achieve your goals.
